  • Ups and downs: Uptown U16s (blue).

There was double disappointment for Uptown School earlier this month when both the Under-16s and Under-12s were defeated in the DASSA Football League.

The U16s were beaten 13-0 by Emirates International School (EIS) on October 21.

It was an action packed and high scoring game, unfortunately all of the goals were scored by EIS.

Uptown worked hard and tried to put pressure on their opponents, but Emirates proved to be too strong.

Uptown’s best chance fell to Samih Wahdan, but his shot was saved. Omar Nasser’s follow-up shot had too much power on it and the ball flew wide.

Later the same day, Uptown U12s took a 2-0 lead against Dubai English Speaking College, but they eventually went on to lose the match 5-2.

Uptown started well with two goals from Jenya Zhulkovskiy. He scored the first following a successful attack after 18 minutes and the second came via a curving corner kick seven minutes later which flew right past the confused goalkeeper.

It certainly brought the boys back down to earth after their fantastic 10-1 win over Rashid School for Boys the previous week. This was Uptown’s first loss against DESC.

The U12s did go on to beat EIS Meadows 1–0 in their following match.
