  • Doing it the hard way: The UAE were without leading series run-scorer, and captain, Khurram Khan.

The UAE wrapped up a 3-1 ODI series victory with a convincing 30 run win over Afghanistan at Dubai’s ICC Academy today.

Half centuries from Andri Berenger and Shaiman Anwar earlier helped the UAE to a total of 258-9 after being put into bat by the visitors.

Berenger’s 66 came from 72 balls, and included a 66 run partnership with Krishna Karate for the third wicket to set their side up for a highly competitive total.

Anwar’s 51 came at a near run a ball and included 6 fours and two maximums.

The UAE’s total ended up more than enough and Aaqib Javed’s charges , without captain Khurram Khan, bowled the Afghanis out for 228 with three balls to spare.

Kamran Shahzad (3-45) and Rohan Mustafa (3-42) were the pick of the UAE bowlers.

The result meant that the UAE claim the four match series 3-1.
