Sponsored by Bentley, the annul tournament once again turned out to be a big hit with 48 teams, each comprising two players, lining up for honours. The tournament also provided the players a platform to network and interact within a cosmopolitan community.

Jodha was further rewarded for his consistency when he won the nearest to the pin prize in two shots on the challenging 16th hole while Rakesh Shah walked away with the straightest drive on the eighth.

The team of Suresh Sewakramani and Kush Sama took the nearest to the pin prizes as Kabir Luthra and Ashok Sindhu showed their prowess off the tee, smashing longest drives on holes nine and 18.

Fisas opens junior season on a winning note

Young champ: Jacobo Fisas (2nd l).

The second edition of the 2015 Dubai Duty Free Junior Medal Championship took place last Thursday at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club.

This series has become very popular since its introduction in 2013, and has had a positive start in 2015. Junior competitors are now battling it out each month not only for the month’s prize but also the all-important order of merit points.

Picking up his first win of the 2015 series and claiming top honours with a superb score of 32.5 was young Jacobo Fisas. Rishi Nair continued his recent form and made it three wins in a row as he claimed the Boys’ Division title again with a two under par round of 33. This was enough for Rishi to edge out his older brother Dhruv, who carded a 35 to finish runner-up in the division.

The result also saw him climb to the top of the order of merit. After narrowly losing out to her sister in last month’s event, Anushka Bhargava made sure this month and took the Girls’ Division trophy with a solid score of 36.5. Aryan Chordia was almost without fault as he carded a solid one over par 36 to claim the Best Gross prize.

Eshna Bhargava and Rishi Nair were awarded for their accurate tee shots on the par 3, 5th and 8th holes.
