  • It has been a highly disappointing season for Jebel Ali (l).

Jebel Ali Dragons have been forced to forfeit their Gulf Top Six game against Dubai Hurricanes on Thursday due to player injury and unavailability.

Dragons announced the decision on their Twitter feed on Thursday afternoon.

The four points teams receive for a win are now expected to be given to Ross Mills’ Hurricanes.

It’s the latest blow in a disappointing season for the men from the Centre of Excellence, who have gone from winning back-to-back trebles to being left trophyless.

The UAE Rugby Federation said: “As per regulations, the score will be 20-0 to Canes with a four try bonus point, as well as Dragons having one point taken away.”

Dragons’ player/coach Murray Strang said: “We are desperately disappointed but if we don’t have fit and available props then it’s pretty black and white. The game can’t go ahead.

“It’s frustrating because other than the front row we have a full squad of guys raring to go.”

It is the penultimate game of the GT6 season for all six sides, with little left to play for as Abu Dhabi Saracens and Doha, who play each other tomorrow (Friday) night in Qatar, are already guaranteed of finishing inside the top two.

Friday’s game will, however, have an impact on where the final of the West Asia Cup between the two will be played.
