Jordanian drifter Ahmad Daham produced an exhilarating performance to claim the top spot at the Red Bull Car Park Drift UAE qualifier, held at the Ice Land Water Park in Ras Al Khaimah, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasami.

    – UAE Rotax MAX Challenge reaches final round at Al Ain Raceway
    – Yas Racing Series final round takes place at Yas Marina Circuit

The reigning King of Drift scored 381 points aboard his Nissan Silvia with last year’s UAE champion Jihad Hassan coming in second with 346 points and Ghandi Hatouka claiming third with 327 points.

The UAE’s Ahmed Al Ameri made a mistake on the final run in his Nissan 350Z to finish fourth in front of over 2,000 spectators.

Daham and Hassan will represent the UAE at the Red Bull Car Park Drift Regional Final set to be held in Kuwait, where Daham will look forward to defending his title.

Drivers this year had the added challenge of touching the pendulum ball to score extra points with a panel of judges scoring out of 400 points, 160 points for drifting skills, 40 for car sound and tyre smoke and donuts in the box.

Judges also kept a watchful eye on car design and proximity to the clipping point without hitting it, each accounting for 60 points.

Celebrating his triumph, Daham said: “The competition was unbelievable and it was hard for the judges to choose a winner; thankfully I made it in the end.

"With the added pressure of touching the pendulum on your run, I had to produce a near-perfect lap to score maximum points as I knew the ability of the three other drivers.

    Winner Ahmad Daham.

"I am happy with the victory especially with the competition that was out there today. I hope to replicate the same performance in October in Kuwait.”

Legendary drifter and rally champion Abdo Feghali said: “The action was sensational with some exceptional performances from the drifters.

"In the end Ahmad Daham demonstrated why he is the ‘King of Drift’ with an outstanding performance throughout the rounds.

"But the most pleasing aspect is the growing level of drifters, , whereby competition is getting closer each year”.
