  • Mark of respect: Al Ain’s Hazza bin Zayed Stadium showing the colours of the French flag.

Al Ain’s Hazza bin Zayed Stadium has joined the list of buildings across the globe and in the UAE lit up by the colours of the French flag “in solidarity” with the victims of the Paris terrorist attacks.

A host of countries have shown their support for France by lighting up iconic landmarks in the style of the Tricolore since 129 people were killed and almost 100 more critically injured in the wave of assaults on Friday.

“Hazza bin Zayed Stadium joins other global buildings with the colours of the French flag in solidarity with #Paris,” the club’s official Twitter account tweeted on Sunday.

The home of Al Ain joined the Burj Al Arab, Emirates Palace, Capital Gate and the Sheikh Zayed Bridge in being decorated red, white and blue on Sunday, along with the likes of the Sydney Opera House, New York’s One World Trade Centre, and London’s Wembley Stadium worldwide.

A special service for the victims, including 350 people wounded and other survivors, was held at Paris’s Notre Dame Cathedral last night.

Friday’s attacks, claimed by Islamic State (IS) militants, hit a concert hall, the vicinity of Stade de France for the France v Germany friendly, restaurants and bars.
