Weekend visitors wishing to head down to the Volvo Ocean Race Destination Village in Abu Dhabi can now arrive there by boat!

Capt. Tony's is operating a boat shuttle service over the weekend which leaves a temporary pontoon at the Corniche beach and arrives at the heart of the Village right in the centre of the action.

The fare is AED 20 per person, one way with the service operating on a first-come, first-served basis. The shuttle boat runs from noon until the evening.

The Village, which is open weekdays from noon until 9pm, and on weekends from 11am until midnight, is packed with entertainment, cultural exhibits and family fun activities.

Capt. Tony’s, is also running hourly cruises, from 12pm – 8pm, along the coastline using traditional dhows (sailing boats). The 45-minute cruises run from the Destination Village with the dhows seating up to 25 passengers.

Fares are AED 60 per adult, AED40 for children from 6-12 years while those below 6 years old go free. Passengers are served on board refreshments while enjoying fantastic views of the city’s impressive skyline.

Destination Village, which hosts the yachts competing in the round-the-world race and celebrates the capital’s rich maritime heritage, is open daily until January 3rd when the hardy VOR fleet leaves on Leg 3 of the race bound for Sanya in China.
