Registration is now open for the 5 Star Aquathlon to be held at Saadiyat Beach Club on Friday, December 12.
It is the second edition of the series with the first attracting hundreds of athletes at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi in October.
And organisers Abu Dhabi Triathlon Club expect over 400 people to participate next month.
The swim and run event has categories for all ages and you can compete individually or as part of a team.
Starting with a junior race at 07:30, children aged between 10 and 16 will swim 200m and then run 1.5km to the finish line.
It will be followed by the adult events from 08:00.
Open to athletes aged 16 and above, you can take a 375m swim and run the 2.5km distance in the super sprint event.
If you have plenty of experience in aquathlons and want to test yourself, then you can take part in the longer sprint, consisting of a 750m swim and a 5km run.
Following a positive response in October’s event, the ‘tiny tri’ category will return again.
Open to children aged between two and 10, with the only rule being that children must swim for 50m and then 100m to the finish line.
Everyone that finishes a race will receive a medal.
With the emphasis of promoting a healthy lifestyle and attracting people to take part in sport, Rachel Hughes, head of the Abu Dhabi tri kids, said: “It is important that our values of community, participation and enjoyment involve children and adults of all ages.
“With this in mind our events are open to everyone from two years old and above.
“The introduction of the tiny tri category proved a great success in the inaugural event and is one of the only community sporting events in the UAE to cater for children in this age group.”
Daniel Hughes, president of the Abu Dhabi triathlon club, added: “Saadiyat Beach Club in Abu Dhabi is an idyllic location for an aquathlon and we are excited to introduce another five star venue to the series.”
