  • Making waves: FreedivingUAE offers certified courses to beginners and advanced level divers.

FreedivingUAE is pushing the limits in a sport that is anything but typical.

This form of underwater diving uses no equipment – only the ability to hold ones breath.

    – #Quiz360: WIN dinner for 2 at Jumeira Rotana

    – #CWC15: World Cup Stick Cricket is here!

FreedivingUAE teach organised, International Association for the Development of Apnea (AIDA) courses.

Freedivers can progress from a beginner level up to instructor, climbing the ladder from AIDA Level I to Level IV.

Newcomers can enter at Level I or Level II, depending on past experience with scuba diving or snorkelling. Level I is for complete beginners who want to get accilmatised by starting in a pool instead of open waters.

Courses are taught at Hamdan Sports Complex in Dubai and Sea Hawk Water Sports in Abu Dhabi.

Surreal: Freediving involves a lot of focus and meditation.

Boulting is also an AIDA instructor trainer and has been freediving since 2008. While he extensively teaches students and trains himself, Boulting isn’t involved in competitive freediving.

However, students from FreedivingUAE have gone on to compete in various events, from local to international.

FreedivingUAE organise trips every few weeks across the UAE to get out in the open waters. Trips to Dubai and Abu Dhabi are for beginner to intermediate divers in warm, relatively calm water. Advanced trips are to Fujairah and Khorfakkan, which have more depth.

Boulting encourages anyone interested in experiencing a unique sport to join one of the courses and get involved with FreedivingUAE.
