Dubai International Boat Show will have you floating in entertainment

  • Vessels worth over Dh1 billion are on show at the Dubai International Marine Club.

    Visitors at the on-going Dubai International Boat Show won’t just see some of the luxurious vessels on display, but can also enjoy a wide range of activities and entertainment that has been lined up for the remaining three days.

    Hundreds have flocked to the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) since its opening on Tuesday where a total of Dh1 billion worth of super yachts and boats are on show until Saturday from 15:00 to 21:30.

    But it’s more than just the extravagant boats, as you can take part in kayaking, canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding while the entertainment agenda includes dance shows and live music.

    There’s also a chance to enjoy in a Match Race on Friday and Saturday. Whether you take the helm, trim the sails or simply sit back, you can soak in the atmosphere of the Dubai Marina and go head-to-head with your family and friends. Registration must be done by visiting www.boatshowdubai.com.

    You could even be going home with some fantastic prizes with scuba diving vouchers, boat and limousine rides, meals at luxury hotels, and maritime footwear and accessories all up for grabs. 

    On top of  that, there will also be a heritage village which will offer a fascinating glimpse into the UAE’s rich maritime history and diverse culture. 

    With the popularity of watersports increasing in the UAE, there will be a number of stalls showcasing their latest products in the ‘Outdoor Display’ area. 

    Additionally, every evening, there will be a ‘Marine Talk’ where visitors can pick up tips and hear stories from global sailing, fishing and watersports experts.

    The boat show has grown from strength to strength in the last 23 years.

    For those who love their cars, Mercedes have their own stand where you can take a picture alongside their new Maybach S600 model. There will also be an ice-cream van, garden village, outdoor clothing stalls and a BBQ area.

    This year is the 23rd edition of the event, which has gone from strength to strength since it made its debut in 1992. 

    Whether you’re interested in the vessels or not, it’s worth visiting the DIMC.

    “The Dubai International Boat Show is more than just buying and selling,” said Saaed Hareb, vice-president and chairman of DIMC.

    “We have plenty of entertainment to keep the visitors busy when they visit the exhibition. We want to make their visit memorable. Whether they’re interested in boats or not, there’s something for everyone.”

    He added: “We will have many visitors travelling from around the world to attend this show, because we don’t have just some of the most luxurious boats on display. We have a variety of boats including speed and racing boats. This is a great opportunity for visitors to see what kind of products will be available.
    “We want many people to attend and enjoy the day with their family and friends.”

    Free parking is available at Nakheel Gateway Tower, with direct trams from Nakheel to Mina Seyahi station every six minutes, or you could take the free shuttle buses to DIMC. Admission costs Dh60 per person.
