  • This week saw the showdown between the returning Shane McMahon and The Undertaker give WrestleMania a whole new twist.

Vince jumped in once more to up the ante for The Deadman, saying that if he loses the bout he will never wrestle at the mega event again.

With the matchup taking place inside Hell in a Cell, Taker fans should be fairly confident of the veteran’s chances despite the obvious risks of taking on a McMahon, albeit one attempting to overthrow the rest of his family (inevitable heel turn to come?).

For him to lose to Shane would be a travesty and for someone associated with WrestleMania since its seventh edition, it would be disappointing to see him exit in this manner.

No disrespect to Shane but it would be devastating to see Taker bow out without tackling an equally iconic wrestler in the shape of Sting or Triple H, possibly the only two semi-active Superstars in the locker room on Taker’s level.

They would also provide much more realistic defeats if that’s the route the WWE wanted to take.

It is hard to see him losing this but do not try and second guess the WWE who in first bringing back Vince and then Shane are close to reverting to type of the famed Attitude Era and the rowing McMahon storylines that were so successful.

You like to think they’ve come a long way since then and now is the chance to nip it in the bud but maybe not.

    TAKER’S TOP-5

With all this in mind, we thought it would be the perfect time to run down The Undertaker’s five most memorable WrestleMania matches in the eyes of WWE TLC.

He’s served us up some treats down the years and here we relive five of the most historic.

Which is your favourite Taker Mania moment and have we missed your favourite off the list? Use #360fans across social media or comment below to share your thoughts.

    5) WRESTLEMANIA VII vs JIMMY SNUKA

Now this may not be as much of a ‘classic’ as many of those that followed but this was the match that started it all. Back in 1991 in Los Angeles, Taker strode to the ring alongside Paul Bearer to screams of approval as well as looks of genuine fear on the faces of some children.  He was “blowing up” as Snuka would later say but few knew how high Taker’s star would rise after this match.

    4) WRESTLEMANIA 13 vs SID

Another match that marked a historic moment for Taker in his sixth win in a row at Mania as he claimed the WWF World Heavyweight Championship for the first time at the pay-per-view. His character was becoming more rounded by this time and main-eventing in a world title bout showed his importance to a company which that night saw the likes of The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin emerge as stars of the future. It was Taker’s second heavyweight title.

    3) WRESTLEMANIA XXIV vs EDGE

Both were unbeaten at WrestleMania and both had been involved in a long, tempestuous rivalry that made this one of the most highly anticipated matches in history. Filled with reversals, interference and brutality, it did not disappoint. This style set the tone for matches to come.

    2) WRESTLEMANIA XXVIII vs TRIPLE H

One of the greatest Hell in a Cell matches of all-time, this just about beats Taker losing the streak to Brock Lesnar.  A match of this kind sort of had to figure at some point and this one did the pair some justice. It was the third time the two met at Mania and it led to 30 minutes of sheer enjoyment as they both let loose inside the steel.

    1) WRESTLEMANIA XXV vs SHAWN MICHAELS

If you have never seen this match, please watch it right away. A truly stunning affair and surely one of the best in the history of the WWE as both wrestlers worked in glorious, brutal unison. Super kicks, tombstones, huge elbow drops, chokeslams, Hell’s Gate, huge spots and reversals at every turn, this match had a little bit of everything.
