Alexa Bliss has been looking back on what has already been an incredible 2018, but says the best is yet to come for The Goddess.

Highlights include a stellar match at WrestleMania with Nia Jax, two matches with former UFC Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey, and now she can look forward to her upcoming match at Evolution – the first women-only pay-per-view – with the legend that is Trish Stratus.

Her recent arm injury, suffered at Hell in a Cell, has prevented her teaming once again with Braun Strownman in the Mixed Match Challenge, but that doesn’t detract from an incredible run that has proved a lot of doubters wrong.

Five Feet of Fury says she could never have imagined her success, and looks forward to continuing the momentum into next year.

“It has been amazing. I am very grateful for the opportunities I have been given with WWE. I would never have expected the last two years to go the way they have because I didn’t come from this background. I didn’t wrestle in the indies, so I know a lot of people don’t like that, but I worked my ass off.

“I was at the Performance Centre for three and a half years, in NXT I wasn’t seen as a major player, I wasn’t a key character – everyone saw me as a manager. I was a pretty underwhelming draft pick, because nobody knew what to expect, I never knew these last two years would go this way and I am very grateful they have.

“Now I get to have a match with Trish Stratus and that’s the top for me.

“In 2019 my main focus is going to be bettering the women’s division, and helping the evolution keep going.”

Bliss was speaking at an exclusive pre-launch event for WWE 2K19 – the latest iteration of the popular video game.

Taking a first-look at her character in the game, she was blown away by the likeness, and says there is still an element of shock every time she sees something like it.

“It’s very humbling every time I see even a poster or action figure, let alone a game. I used to play video games with my dad all the time – we would play NBA Street and would play as our favourite players – and to think I could now be played as someone’s favourite player on the game is so cool.

“My character is so realistic – it’s crazy how realistic it is. Last year I was thinking, how are they going to make it even better, and they somehow have.”

The only snag now is getting better at it….

“I like the 2K games, I really do – I’m just really bad at them, at least I was bad at 2K18. I did an UpUpDownDown tournament and lost in under a minute. I really need to work on my eye-to-thumb coordination! I can get through Crash Bandicoot pretty well, but 2K18 really stumped me, so hopefully I can get a little better on 2K19.”

The standard edition of WWE 2K19 is released on October 9, with special Deluxe and Woo editions coming four days earlier on October 5.
