The Abu Dhabi Tour is just one of the many initiatives that the government have put in place to double the number of cycle paths in the city by 2020.

The four-stage Professional Cycling Tour race will cover a total distance of 555km; three stages favour the sprinters, while the remaining stage (the 3rd), finishing uphill after a 750m climb with gradients touching 12%, will probably decide the General Classification.

It is a well-balanced race including the capital city's skylines, the desert, the oases, a challenging climb featuring an excellent peak and average gradients (12/7.5%) – and a superb ending on the futuristic Yas Marina F1 circuit.
