Sailing
Covering almost eight nautical miles, the Club invites Dhow sailing novices and veterans to take part in the competition and festivities.
Dhow Sailing is an integral part of the UAE’s heritage and is often regarded as the first hurdle aspiring sailors need to overcome.
Fashioned out of wood and rigged with a single sail, these traditional boats often contain three sailors, aged eight to twelve, and an older “skipper” who endows the inexperienced with the necessary skillsets and knowledge.
Targeted at reviving a passionate response for dhow sailing amongst the youth of today, each race is held over a six to ten nautical mile course with a total of three races expected to round up the entire championship.
