Hold your breath as divers take the plunge in FINA’s High Diving World Cup at the Abu Dhabi International Marine Sports Club.
High diving was perceived as an adventure daredevil sport practiced by individuals seeking to set records before its subsequent explosion as part of the mould of mainstream aquatic sports.
Regulated by FINA, athletes competing in high diving achieve speeds of 96kmph, separating it from conventional diving.
Since its introduction in Barcelona back in 2013, the event attracts more spectators with merit to its unique formats featuring a five-round men’s competition and a two-round female equivalent.
Men plunge from 27m platforms while women dive from 20m ones.
