Lionel Messi rewarded a homage by Barcelona fans with two more goals as they thrashed Osasuna 7-1 to move three points clear of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga, albeit temporarily.

The much-criticised Andre Gomes and Paco Alcacer also bagged doubles, whilst Javier Mascherano scored his first Barca goal in seven years with the club from the penalty spot.

Borussia Dortmund fought back to defeat bitter rivals Bayern Munich 3-2 to reach the German Cup final.

A brilliant strike from Ousmane Dembele 15 minutes from the end settled a tie which had seen Dortmund trail 2-1 at half-time.

Christian Eriksen reignited Tottenham’s bid to catch Premier League leaders Chelsea as the Dane’s late blast sealed a vital 1-0 win against Crystal Palace.

Arsenal kept their hopes of a top-four finish alive as a late Robert Huth own goal was enough for them to see off reigning champions Leicester.

Paris Saint-Germain beat AS Monaco 4-0 to book a Coupe de France final meeting with Angers.

Real Madrid thrashed Deportivo 6-2 and reclaimed top spot in the league table to ensure that the pressure is kept on Barcelona in the title race.

MOST DOMINATING WIN – BARCELONA THRASH OSASUNA

Barcelona were always winning this game, it was a matter of how much and when they would score. Lionel Messi got the ball rolling and Andre Gomes followed suit.

There was a slight wobble just after half-time when Osasuna – who had been dominated up to then – made it 2-1 but that only sought to awaken the Catalans.

For Luis Enrique, it was an exercise in experimentation with squad players Gomes, Denis Suarez and, maybe most crucially, Paco Alcacer all impressing.

BEST CONTEST – BAYER MUNICH 2-3 BORUSSIA DORTMUND

Dortmund emerged victorious from a great contest. Marco Reus opened the scoring before Javi Martinez levelled proceedings. Mats Hummels then gave Bayern the lead before half-time.

Ousmane Dembele then took control, setting up Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before scoring a sublime winner in the 74th minute.

BEST GOAL – OUSMANE DEMBELE

The 19-year-old Frenchman produced an absolute gem to knock out the mighty Bavarians. After receiving the ball from Reus inside the box, he faked to shoot, cutting onto his left foot instead and steering a sumptuous curler into the far corner, beyond the keeper’s reach.

BIGGEST BLUNDER – ROBERT HUTH

Unfortunate as it may be, the German’s decisive deflection gifted Arsenal a point in the 87th minute.

PLAYER OF THE DAY – ANDRE GOMES

He has spent all season justifying his arrival from Valencia but this was probably the Portuguese’s best display in a Barcelona shirt.

He looked lively on the right, scored two well taken goals and was always looking to take possession and move the ball on to hurt Osasuna.
