Indian captain Virat Kohli notched up his third double century of the year as India continued to dominate the fourth Test against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.
Kohli and partner Jayant Yadav put on a 241-run partnership which incidentally is the highest-ever eighth wicket stand for India in the history of Test cricket.
While Kohli would go on to score a career-best 235, Jayant brought up his first Test century, playing in just his third Test match. The Haryana all-rounder played some particularly glorious cover drives in the morning session with the partnership, more or less, deflating any slim chances the English team had.
India would eventually be bowled out for 631, with leg-spinner Adil Rashid picking up four wickets for the visitors.
England, in their second innings, lost first innings centurion Keaton Jennings for a golden duck as Bhuvneshwar Kumar trapped him leg-before-wicket in the first over.
There was a lot of turn and bounce on offer for the spinners as soon as they were brought on, with Ravindra Jadeja particularly bowling well before the interval for tea. The left-arm spinner would dismiss England captain Alastair Cook and Moeen Ali before the end of the second session.
England staged a fight back in the final session of the day, with Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow adding 92 for the fourth wicket. Root, especially, produced a brilliant counter-attacking innings before he was dismissed for 77 by Jayant Yadav.
Bairstow also got to his half-century later in the day, but Ravichandran Ashwin getting rid of Ben Stokes and Jake Ball ensured that India were in complete control of the match at the end of day four.
