Indian fast bowling duo of Ashish Nehra and Jasprit Bumrah bowled brilliantly to hand India an unlikely five-win victory over England at the VCA Stadium, Nagpur on Sunday.

England needed just eight runs to win off the final over, but Bumrah showcased his variations and conceded just two runs while picking up the wickets of Joe Root and Jos Buttler.

Root will consider himself unlucky as he was adjudged leg-before-wicket despite getting an inside edge. He made a handy contribution for the visitors with a run-a-ball 38.

For India, Nehra picked up three wickets for 28 runs while Bumrah was named the Man of the Match for his spell of 2/20.

Earlier in the day, England skipper Eoin Morgan had won the toss and put India into bat on what was a slow Nagpur pitch.

KL Rahul was the standout batsman for the Indians, scoring 71 runs from 47 deliveries as all the batsmen around him struggled to get any momentum going.

Chris Jordan was the pick of the English bowlers, with figures of 3/22.
