Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 78th international goal as Portugal beat Faroe Islands 5-1 in Oporto on Thursday.

The Real Madrid star netted a hat-trick to make it 14 goals in this World Cup qualifying campaign and 78 goals in 144 appearances for his country.

Ronaldo’s treble carried him above Brazil legend Pele and into the top five on the all-time goal scoring list.

Only Ali Daei (109), Ferenc Puskas (84), Kunishige Kamamoto (80) and Godfrey Chitalu (79) sit above Ronaldo on the international roll of honour.

In the gallery above, we take a look back all of his international goals down through the years.
