Sanju Samson hit the first century of IPL 2017 to power Delhi Daredevils to a crushing win over Rising Pune Supergiant.

Put into bat, the Daredevils got off to a decent start despite the early loss of opener Aditya Tare. Samson and Sam Billings provided a good platform and when Rishabh Pant joined Samson in the middle, the duo began to accelerate, with Samson carrying on to record a sensational 102 off of 63 balls.

Chris Morris hit a fantastic cameo of 38 off of 9, with four 4s and three 6s, as Delhi scored 76 runs in the last four overs to reach 205/4, a target that always looked daunting for Pune.

The pressure of the chase saw Pune’s star-studded batting lineup lose wickets regularly, with Delhi skipper Zaheer Khan marshalling his bowlers well, and picking up three wickets himself, a tally matched by Daredevils leg-spinner Amit Mishra. Supergiant never really threatened, and Delhi duly wrapped up a 97-run victory in the 17th over.

Samson had at one point looked like he would throw away another good start, getting bogged down in the middle stages of his innings. But he accelerated with aplomb, ultimately hitting eight 4s and five 6s on the way to his highest-ever T20 score.
