ANDY MURRAY

ATP Ranking: 1

Age: 29

Best result in Abu Dhabi: Winner (2009, 2015)

Murray will be looking to extend his 26-match winning streak and capitalise on the momentum he built in the second half of the 2016 season. He’s had success in Abu Dhabi in the past and is a combined 19-2 against his potential opponents on Friday – Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and David Goffin.

MILOS RAONIC

ATP Ranking: 3

Age: 26

Best result in Abu Dhabi: Runner-up (2016)

The big-serving Canadian will be making his second consecutive appearance in the UAE capital after a successful debut in the last edition that saw him lose a close final to Rafael Nadal. Is enjoying a career-high ranking and is proving to be one of the biggest threats on tour.

RAFA NADAL

ATP Ranking: 9

Age: 30

Best result in Abu Dhabi: Winner (2010-11, 2016)

A regular at Zayed Sports City, Nadal could potentially play on all three days of the tournament if he wins his opener today against Tomas Berdych. Will be competing for the first time since October after a wrist injury forced him to end his 2016 season early.

TOMAS BERDYCH

ATP Ranking: 10

Age: 31

Best result in Abu Dhabi: Third place (2011)

The Czech is back in Abu Dhabi for the first time in four years and is hoping to put behind him a bumpy end to 2016 that saw him miss the US Open due to appendicitis. Teamed up with a new coach, Goran Ivanisevic, four months ago and is looking to reach new heights with him in his corner.

DAVID GOFFIN

ATP Ranking: 11

Age: 26

Best result in Abu Dhabi: Debutant

This is the Belgian’s first outing in the UAE capital and the Abu Dhabi crowd are in for a treat. Goffin is a delight to watch as he moves the ball around extremely well and will match up nicely against his opponent today, Jo- Wilfried Tsonga.

JO-WILFRIED TSONGA

ATP Ranking: 12

Age: 31

Best result in Abu Dhabi: Fourth place (2013)

Back in action after a tricky 2016 saw him deal with injuries that interrupted stretches of good form. Is expecting a first child with his fiancee this April and will be looking to re-enter the top-10 in 2017. Is a crowd favourite in Abu Dhabi and his match with Goffin is not to miss.
