Liverpool have agreed a £75m fee with Southampton to sign Virgil van Dijk in the January transfer window.
The enormous transfer fee dwarfs the previous highest for a defender, the £54m spent by Manchester City for Kyle Walker in the summer.
Van Dijk is now the seventh most expensive transfer of all-time, level with Romelu Lukaku when he moved from Everton to Manchester United in the summer.
