Thousands of Egyptian fans caught a glimpse of idol Mohamed Salah on Saturday night.

The 25-year-old Liverpool star, who is stepping up his recovery from a shoulder injury, did not take part in the country’s final pre-World Cup training session in Cairo, though he did spend time with fans at the international stadium in the city.

Chants of “Come Salah, Come Salah” bellowed around the venue as Pharaohs’ fans wished their country the best of luck ahead of this month’s showpiece in Russia.

Salah is expected to be fit for their Group A-clashes as Saudi Arabia, Russia and Uruguay await. The entire Egyptian squad are travelling to Russia on Sunday.
