Cycling

Are you looking to join a cycling group in Dubai? Do you want to improve your fitness, get and out of the gym, have a passion for cycling? Then the Dubai Roadsters is for you.

The Dubai Roadsters are a group of passionate cyclists who started out before the year 2000, as a group of friends looking to enjoy cycling together in Dubai, it quickly grew over the years as the biggest cycling group in Dubai. The Dubai Roadsters are quite famous in Dubai as it was the first big and organized group ride in the Middle East Region. The way in which the Dubai Roadsters are organized today is used as an example for many similar rides in the UAE, the Dubai Roadsters have become trendsetters in the cycling world with regards to large organized group rides. The Dubai Roadsters enjoy leisure and recreational cycling in and around Dubai, their cycling events include a brisk safe weekly Friday morning group ride from the fantastic new changing facility at District 1, DXBike. where there is ample parking and showering facilities. Keep an eye on the Dubai Roadsters and Wolfi's Bike Shop websites and Facebook sites for start times and special events information.

There are no fees for the Dubai Roadsters as they are an informal, though regular, group of passionate cyclists.

There is a Core Group of Dubai Roadsters, where it is appreciated to make an annual payment of AED 315 towards the support vehicles, these fees can be paid at Wolfi's Bike Shop, located on Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Quoz 3 Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This will ensure that the great back up support of the support vehicles gets covered for the year, which has managed to help many stranded cyclists with a few punctures along the way and help quench some thirsty throats as they also provide the much-needed water refuel.

The Dubai Roadsters main ride takes place on a Friday morning starting from DXBike, the new facility at District 1. This ride is for the more avid rider, as this ride attracts around 150 riders and there are 2 distances that you can choose from a 80km or a 120km cycle. (The group will also have an option to do 140km rides about one month before the Coast to Coast Challenge).

Dubai Roadsters leave as one group from DXBike and may split into two groups along the Meydan Road, so as to avoid the 'yo-yo' effect. Please try to stay in your group. The ride to the first water stop is a warm-up ride and should average 32km/h.

At the water stop at the 40km mark, the group will split into a fast 80km group, averaging between 37-38km/h and a steady 80km group averaging between 33-34km/h.

The 120km group will stay together until the petrol station at Al Awir, where the group will refuel and split into a fast and a steady 120km group if there is enough cyclist who would like to choose this option.

The Dubai Roadsters ride together at all times, except on the sprint sections, in a formation of two riders next to each other, two parallel lines from the front of the group to the back of the group. The front positions are very responsible/crucial positions in the group and only experienced riders familiar with the route/riding etiquette should ride up front.
