This morning, Cristiano Ronaldo has scored away from home for the first time since November to help Real Madrid take a two-goal advantage back to the Bernabeu in their last-16 tie against Roma in the Champions League.
Ronaldo, who had walked out of a pre-match press conference when asked about his goal scoring form away form home was the man to break the deadlock in Rome on 57 minutes. The game finished 2-0 to Real Madrid.
Wolfsburg also grabbed an away win, beating Gent by three goals to two in their last-16 tie.
Back in Spain, Messi continued his goal scoring exploits, as he became the first man to score 300 goals in La Liga.
Messi scored twice in quick succession to reach 301 goals in total as Barcelona beat Sporting Gijon 3-1 to go six points clear at the top of La Liga.
This morning, PSG have moved a step closer to progressing in the Champions League by edging the first leg of their last-16 tie with Chelsea by two goals to one. It was Edinson Cavani who scored the winner inside the last 15 minutes in Paris but Chelsea do have a vital away goal heading into the second-leg at Stamford Bridge.
Benfica beat Zenit St Petersburg 1-0 in their game in Lisbon.
The UAE are now level on terms in the series against Ireland after beating the tourists in yesterday’s match held in Abu Dhabi. The UAE scored 133 for seven with Ireland falling short by five runs.

In the Premier League, Manchester United suffered another defeat as Louis van Gaal saw his side lose to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. It means that United are six points from the top four and van Gaal says the only chance of Champions League qualification is to win the Europa League.
