  • Some style: The South Korean female handball team celebrate winning gold by performing the Gangnam Style dance.

South Korea beat Russia in a thrilling finish to win gold in the women's handball competition at the Youth Olympic Games.

Korea led 17-14 at the half time and soon it was 31-30. But in the final moments, Korea scored a spectacular goal to lead 32-30 and Russia was denied as the Korean goalkeeper came up with a great save. Russia scored once more with less than ten seconds left as Korea won the match 32-31 to take gold.

In the men's gold medal match, Slovenia was clearly the dominant team as they led 13-11 at half time. Soon after, they took a comfortable 26-19 lead in the 20th minute.

They held on to that advantage and won in style as their leading scorer Jaka Malus scored his sixth goal to wrap their 31-25 victory.

Yang Hao of China scored a total of 665.90 points to blow his opposition out of the water and clinch the gold medal in the men's 10 metre platform diving competition.

Yang came in from the preliminaries over 100 points clear of the competition. Yang's win gave him a personal medal haul of two gold and China a clean sweep of the four gold medals on offer in diving.
