  • Speaking to media after shocking the world with victory over Wladimir Klitschko, new heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury praises the usurped Ukrainian for his long spell with the gold around his waist.

Fury, who earned a superb win with scores of 115-112 twice and 116-111 despite being deducted a point for fouling, was quick to acknowledge both Klitschko's performance in Dusseldorf and legacy as world champion.

Klitschko held the WBA, WBO and IBF titles for nine-years.

"First of all, I'd like to say congratulations to Wladimir and his team – they put up a really good fight," said Fury.

"Tonight I found him quite awkward to land clean on… as he did me. You know, he caught me with some good shots, so credit to him.

"And if I could just say one thing, if I could be half as good as champion as Wladimir Klitschko I'd be very, very happy."

Klitschko went on to confirm that the contract the pair signed for this fight includes a rematch clause, one that the former champion will activate.
