World No.1 Novak Djokovic cruised through to the quarter-finals of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships with a straight-sets victory over Malek Jaziri and in the process wrapped up his 700th victory on the ATP World Tour.

The 28-year-old routed the Tunisian and will now face Spaniard Feliciano Lopez on Thursday night, in a repeat of their last eight clash at the 2015 US Open.

Third seed and two-time Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships runner-up Tomas Berdych is relishing being back in Dubai – a place that feels like a home away from home for the Czech star.

The 30-year-old, who cruised through to the quarter-finals of the tournament in the UAE with a straight-sets victory over Italian Thomas Fabbiano, will face Australian Nick Kyrgios in the last eight.

And ahead of his next match, the World No.7 admits he is enjoying being back in Dubai: “It really goes hand-in-hand when you have a place where you’re playing well, it connects together – you feel good in the place which means the tournament is really trying to take good care of the players.”

Third seed Tomas Berdych says Novak Djokovic’s dominance in the game, along with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in previous years, is driving him and his ATP World Tour colleagues on to reach their level – although the Czech admits the World No.1 is playing tennis from a ‘different planet’.

Berdych secured his passage through to the second round of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships with a comfortable win over Portugal’s Joao Sousa.
