  • Top seed Angelique Kerber wants to put a shaky start to 2017 behind her and get that winning feeling again at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.

The German, who won two Grand Slam titles last year, has struggled to find her best form this term – exiting the Australian Open in the fourth round as defending champion last month.

However, interestingly, Kerber (7,115 ranking points) can reclaim the No1 ranking spot from Melbourne champion Serena Williams (7,780) if she goes all the way and lifts the trophy for the very first time at the Aviation Club this week.

“I will try and find ways to win a lot of matches again,” the 29-year-old, who has only won one of her last five draw matches in the Emirate, told Sport360 ahead of her first match on Monday.
