Manchester City found themselves on the recieving end of 4-1 defeat to rivals Liverpool, in what was Manuel Pellgrini’s first match up against new Liverpool manager’ Jurgen Klopp in the Premier League.
The defeat sees City’s title challenge dented, after goals from the Brazilan duo Phillipe Coutinho and Roberto Fimino, as well as a Martin Skrtel wonder strike. While an own goal from City defender’ Eliaquim Mangala and to the misery, which saw Liverpool grab all 3 points.

Pellegrini’s side did manage to get on the scoresheet, after Sergio Aguero slotted home late in the first half. However, the damage was already done leaving the finish as nothing but a consolation for the side.

The Chiliean manager wasn’t impressed by his sides performance and rather than blame any specific individuals for the loss, he felt all aspects of the teams approach was at fault, before adding “I’ve never seen this team playing the way we did tonight.”
The final result left City sitting in third place and 2 points off the top spot, whilst the win sees Liverpool 6 points behind last night opponents.
