  • Eden Hazard's come a long way on FIFA since his FIFA 09 rating of 51.

Just how good is Eden Hazard?

The Chelsea star won the PFA Player of the Year award in 2015, was a close contestant for the award last year, and has at various times been proclaimed the Premier League‘s best player. Jose Mourinho once said Hazard was better than Cristiano Ronaldo – although this was before the two fell out, Mourinho switched clubs, and seemingly buried the hatchet with Ronaldo, so maybe the current Manchester United manager doesn’t feel the same way now.

Is Hazard “world-class”? That’s the mythical description which English pundits love throwing about, only to say that it doesn’t apply to anyone playing in England – or if it does, it’s usually only for Kevin de Bruyne, or Sergio Aguero, although Hazard has on occasion been elevated to that lofty status as well.

If only FIFA ratings were the ultimate answer to such questions. FIFA 18 gave the Belgian a rating of 90, good for eighth-best in the world, but we all know that these ratings leave fans with as many questions as answers.

Still, it’s a good way to track how far Hazard has come in the ten years since making his debut for Lille. Just imagine, there was a time when his rating was only 51! The video shows how much he’s progressed since then.
