Rory McIlroy has enjoyed a strong start to 2016 with a top-3 finish in the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship that has many already talking about the prospect of a new “Big Three” with Jason Day and Jordan Spieth alongside the Northern Irishman.
However after playing a round alongside his father Gerry at the Abu Dhabi Invitational at Yas Links Golf Course, it was clear that the World No3’s secret to success is to stay humble.
“My dad raised me to treat people the right way,” he said. “They (his parents) would be more proud of me if I was to behave correctly instead of being successful in golf tournaments.”
The McIlroys were not able to top the table in this tournament, but with the Dubai Desert Classic just around the corner, there is every chance that the 2015 champion will make it consecutive victories.
