Islamabad United defeated Lahore Qalandars in a crucial Pakistan Super League (PSL) encounter in Sharjah on Wednesday night.
Lahore batted first and made 166-6 with Mohammad Rizwan top-scoring (50) while Mohammad Sami was impressive with the ball, claiming figures of 2-21 from his three overs.
In reply, Australian legend Shane Watson (79 from 47) and Sharjeel Khan (79 not out) blitzed Lahore’s attack as United claimed a much-needed eight-wicket win with 25 balls remaining.
The victory has placed Islamabad in a strong position to qualify for the next stage of the competition in the UAE.
