France powered past Italy 40-18 in their Six Nations international at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday.

Tries from Gael Fickou, Virimi Vakatawa, Louis Picamoles and Brice Dulin and faultless Camille Lopez contributing 20 points with his boot earned France their second win of the championship.

Sergio Parisse crossed early for Italy with Angelo Esposito adding a late consolation try. Carlo Canna kicked two penalties and a conversion.

This was wooden spoon recipient Italy's fourth consecutive defeat.

England thrashed Scotland 61-21 at Twickenham on Saturday to win the Six Nations title and equal New Zealand's record of 18 successive Test wins by a 'tier one' nation.

Jonathan Joseph scored three of England's seven tries, in a match that saw England post their record score and equal-highest margin of victory over Scotland.

England can break world champions New Zealand's mark of 18 wins in a row by beating Ireland in Dublin next weekend, a match where a win would also see them complete back-to-back Grand Slams.

England avoided the biggest upset in RBS 6 Nations history by beating Italy 36-15 at Twickenham for a 17th successive Test win.

Italy led 10-5 at half-time - for only the second time against England - but tries from Danny Care and Elliot Daly turned the momentum in the hosts' favour.

Michele Campagnaro scored to make it 17-15 with 19 minutes to go, but two Jack Nowell scores and one from Ben Te'o saw England finish with six tries in a scarcely-deserved bonus-point victory.

TWEET OF THE MATCH

Former Australia back Matt Giteau (@giteau_rugby) was intrigued by head coach Eddie Jones' reaction to England's first-half display.

MOMENT OF THE MATCH
Italy's scrum crumpled under England pressure and Care took a quick tap-penalty before scampering into the corner, turning the momentum in England's favour four minutes into the second half. Moments later Daly went over for England's third of six tries.
