  • Al Ahli coach Cosmin Olaroiu believes “everything is possible” in AGL title race.

Al Ahli coach Cosmin Olaroiu has declared “everything is possible” in the Arabian Gulf League title race as he prepares for his final fixture before temporarily departing for Saudi Arabia.

Olaroiu, 45, has inked a one-month loan deal to guide the Green Falcons at January’s Asian Cup. He travels to Australia on the back of an underwhelming defence that sees the champions in sixth spot ahead of the top-flight reaching the half-way mark.

Bani Yas are the visitors to Rashid Stadium today, Luis Garcia’s men looking to return to winning ways after being thrashed 3-0 by Al Ain on Sunday.

“Everything is possible and the league is still to fight for,” Olaroiu said. “I’m not a magician, there are a set number of games left and we have to work in order to earn points.

“The results do not reflect the performance of the team and there have been some factors and problems experienced by the team in regards to some wrong decisions.”

Meanwhile, Al Wahda boss Jose Peseiro has insisted his side must defeat fellow high-flyers Al Nasr after two defeats on the spin.

Their Excellencies’ 20-match AGL unbeaten run has unravelled in the last week, consecutive losses coming against Al Ain and Ahli.

The Sky Blues will represent another stern test today despite falling to a shock 2-0 reversal to bottom-placed Ittihad Kalba last time out.

New Fujairah boss Ivan Hasek will welcome back star Algeria defender Madjid Bougherra as he bids to claim his first win in his second game in charge at home to fellow strugglers Ajman.
