Braces from Edgar and Rashid Hassan last night saw Al Shabab secure top spot in Group B of the GCC Club Cup with a game to spare thanks to a 4-0 victory against Al Seeb.
The Hawks dominated throughout at Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium, midfielder Hassan opening the scoring in the 12th minute with a low finish inside the box before Edgar converted calmly from the penalty spot.
The pair were on target again after the break. Hassan first slotted under the advancing goalkeeper before Brazilian striker Edgar rounded the shotstopper to convert with the final kick of a one-sided contest.
Holders Al Nasr host Bahrain’s Manama tonight.
The Blue Wave are currently bottom of Group C, though a victory by two goals or more will put them firmly in the race for the quarter-finals.
