The second run of the ADCB Zayed Sports City 5 and 10km series takes place on Friday, January 9 and you have until tomorrow to register if you want to participate.

Presented by Daman’s ActiveLife, the race at Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi, is open to people of different abilities with previous editions attracting runners from as young as six to 70-year-olds.

The 5km fun run is ideal for beginners and for those who don’t have much running experience.

For runners who want to push themselves further, can take part in the 10km road run.

Those competing in the 10km distance will complete two laps in closed streets around Zayed Sports City, while the 5k run will involve one.

All runners who complete the event will be rewarded with a medal, an official race time and a running cap.

If you are not competing, Abu Dhabi Striders, organisers of the event, has arranged fun activities for spectators which include a bouncy castle and entertainment by sponsors ADCB and ActiveLife. With the first run of the series – ‘ADCB Pink Run’ attracting over 700 runners in October, Abu Dhabi Striders are expecting another similar turnout, where all proceeds from the three-race event (final one in March), will be donated to the Special Care Centre in Abu Dhabi.

Daniel Hughes of Abu Dhabi Striders said: “The Zayed Sports City run series is becoming one of the must-do sporting events for families in Abu Dhabi.

On your marks: The first run of the series in October attracted over 700 runners and the organisers are expecting those numbers to rise on Friday.
