One of the world’s most feared strikers makes her return next month – and will immediately have her eyes fixed on championship gold.
French Algerian Anissa Meksen has been out of the ring for more than a year but will face Phetjeeja at ONE Friday Fights 46 on December 22 is what is expected to be an explosive showcase of striking for the ONE Interim Women’s Atomweight Kickboxing World Title.
The famed Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok will pay host to the much anticipated bout which will see both women put undefeated ONE records on the line, with Meksen currently three from three, and Phetjeeja one better with four wins from her four outings with the organisaiton.
Meksen needs no introduction on the world striking stage. The 35-year-old is a seven-time Muay Thai and Kickboxing world champion, with an incredible 103-5 overall record.
If there is one woman who will not be fazed by the challenge however, it is Phetjeeja. At just 21-years-of-age, she is a prodigy with rare talent. Despite her tender years, The Queen has amassed an almost incomprehensible record of 206-6 in Muay Thai. Her four ONE contests have all ended the same way too – by stoppage. Two first round, a second, and third round TKO have announced her presence ONE in the most dramatic fashion – but she now faces arguably her biggest test to date.
The winner will walk away with the ONE Interim Women’s Atomweight Kickboxing World Title, setting up a 2024 unification bout with current divisional queen Janet Todd.
This is a truly spectacular showdown to end 2023, and one which might well be a late entry in fight of the year conversations. It is one not to be missed.
