  • Future King Heroes opened their 12th Dulsco Ramadan Cricket Tournament campaign on a winning note with a four-wicket victory over Environmena Colombo Lions at Zabeel Park Cricket Grounds.

Heroes overhauled the target with two balls to spare after Colombo Lions had scored 124 for nine. Electing to bat first, openers Colombo Lions captain Chathura Desapriya and Sagara Dananjaya put on 15 runs before the former was sent back after scoring just nine runs.

However, Sagara and Indika Sampath then strung together a 60-run partnership but Zeyad of Heroes struck twice in quick succession and sent both the settled batsmen back to the pavilion.

Linken Alexander and Faizan chipped in with 14 and nine runs as the Lions reached 124 for the loss of nine wickets in their 20 overs.

Heroes began the chase with openers Yaqoob Masih and Atique Mahmood putting on 47 runs for the first wicket. Atique scored 11 and hit one six before he was bowled by Sehan.

Yaqoob, however, kept his end intact and carried his team close to the victory target with a well struck 79. He belted eight sixes and three fours and faced 45 balls before being run out.

By then Heroes had sensed victory and Jawed (11) hit the winning runs with two balls to spare. Yaqoob was named the DBMSC Steel Man of the Match for his half century and one wicket.
