Ravichandran Ashwin has officially completed his move to Delhi Capitals from Kings XI Punjab. Co-owner Ness Wadia confirmed the news on Thursday, stating that the Capitals have offered the services of left-arm spinner J Suchith and an additional sum as part of the exchange.
The deal is subject to ratification by the IPL Governing Council but is expected to go through soon.
“Everyone is happy with this deal. We are happy, Ashwin is happy and Delhi is happy. We were in talks with three teams but have finally come to this conclusion. We wish Ashwin the very best,” Wadia told the Press Trust of India (PTI).
Ashwin had captained KXIP for two seasons and amicably decided to part ways from the franchise. “We [Ashwin and KXIP] have amicably come to a conclusion that we should part ways,” Wadia added.
KL Rahul will take over the reins as captain of the Punjab franchise following Ashwin’s departure.
The 33-year-old Ashwin has a remarkable record in the IPL, picking up 125 wickets from 139 games at a miserly economy-rate of 6.79. He has previously won the IPL title twice with Chennai Super Kings.
