    An all-round performance by Rohan Mustafa guided Phoenix Medicine to a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Interface Transworld in the Interface Ramadan Floodlit Cricket Tournament held at the ICC Global Cricket Academy grounds last night.

    Mustafa snared three crucial wickets and then scored an unbeaten 73 to help his team get past the target in just 20.2 overs.

    Chasing 143 to win, Phoenix sensed trouble when their opener Fahad Ansari was back in the hut without bothering the scorer.

    But Mustafa put them at ease soon and scored at will. He shared a 47-run partnership for the second wicket with Zeeshan Jamal before the latter was stumped off Jagrit Anad. Jamal made 28 off 27 balls.

    Mustafa continued to excel and an unbroken 94-run stand for the third wicket with Adnan Mufti (27 not out) meant Phoenix sailed to victory in the 20th over. Mustafa’s hit three sixes in his 69-ball stay.

     

    AL AQILI:
    Eurocon Alubond defeated ECB Blue to enter the semi-finals at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

    Opting to bat first, ECB Blue lost wickets at regular intervals as they mustered only 124 for eight.

    No10 Mohamed Kashif top scored with an unbeaten 36 while Mohamed Hamid (17) was the other significant contributor.For Eurocon, Nasir Aziz took two wickets.

    In reply, Nasir came good with the bat too and took just 28 balls to score 52 runs. He hit five boundaries and two sixes, while Azzem fired a 17-ball 41 as Eurocon achieved the target in 13.4 overs.

    In the other quarter-finals match, William Hare Abu Dhabi Gymkhana humbled Seven Seas by eight wickets.

    Batting first, Seven Seas batsmen got good starts but failed to carry on as they were bundled out for a modest 112 in 19.1 overs.

    Hasnain Raza top scored with 31 while Bilal Irshad (23), Haris Ahmed (15) and Qadir Nawaz (17) were the other main scorers.

    Kashif Shafi took three wickets for Abu Dhabi Gymkhana, who got off to a good start in reply with openers Saqib Shah (27) and Asim Khurshid (34) sharing 56 runs for the opening wicket.

    Irfan Haider hit an unbeaten 27 while Muhammad Faisal scored 23 not out as Abu Dhabi Gymkhana overhauled the target in 17.4 overs losing just two wickets.

    INSPORTZ:
    Amigos surprised Googly, defeating them by 12 runs in the Premier Division category of the Danube Indoor Cricket tournament at Insportz, Dubai.

    Batting first, Googly scored 68 but Amigos overcame that with steady partnerships.

    Terry was the best batsman for Amigos, top scoring with 17 runs.

    In an earlier match, Googly defeated Xmen United.

    Chasing 40 to win, Googly comfortably scored 74 with Sachin top scoring with 24 runs.

    In the B Division matches, GAC Blues edged past Pallakad Patriots by one run. Pallakad Patriots scored 49 runs in 16 overs. In reply, GAC cruised well but a four wicket haul by Ajish meant they missed the target by a single run.

    In the C Division matches, Redinton defeated BAFCO, Khaleej Times ousted The Dickras and Siddhu’s beat Al Bahar.

    DULSCO:
    Azeem Mohammed’s unbeaten century ensured Uniforge Bhatkal CC scored a huge 222-run victory over National Pest Control (NPC) in the 10th Dulsco Ramadan Twenty20 tournament at Zabeel Park grounds in Dubai.

    Two century partnerships for the first two wickets saw Bhatkal pile up 265 for two.

    Chasing a mammoth total NPC succumbed to a paltry 43 runs.

    Opener Azeem and Nasrullah put on 141 runs for the opening wicket. Nasrullah hit a 34-ball 71 with the help of nine sixes and one four. Azeem carried his bat through and scored 100 from 54 balls and hit nine sixes.
