  • Ravi Shastri.

Over the years, Ravi Shastri has often been accused of being a cliched commentator. During the Test series between India and England, Shastri and the BCCI have put that aspect of Shastri’s commentary to good use.

Among Shastri’s most famous cliches is ‘like a tracer bullet’, a phrase that the former Indian all-rounder has used numerous times over the years. With challenges from the Ice Bucket Challenge in 2015 to the Mannequin Challenge in 2016 being pretty much part of pop culture, we now have the #TracerBulletChallenge.

The challenge sees people trying to imitate Shastri’s commentary as Virat Kohli cover drives Adil Rashid for a boundary.

Indian cricketing legends Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman part took in the challenge. Here’s the video of the same (video courtesy – BCCI).

The challenge was also taken by Shastri’s fellow commentators for the India vs England series. While Shastri was impressed by the likes of Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Sir Ian Botham and Nasser Hussain, it didn’t come naturally to some of the others (video courtesy – BCCI).
