  • India take on England in the final ODI of the three-match series at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday.

Having already won the series, the Indian team will look to inflict more misery on England as they aim to complete a series whitewash.

Incredibly, Virat Kohli as captain is still to lose a match on home soil – be it in Test cricket or in ODIs.

On the other hand, England has their task cut out if they are to get anything out of this series. Having not won a single international match on the tour so far, they are under pressure to salvage some pride.

    TEAM NEWS, SQUAD, PREDICTED XI

INDIA SQUAD: Virat Kohli (c), MS Dhoni, Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Yuvraj Singh, Kedar Jadhav, Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Amit Mishra, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah.

This is India’s final ODI before the ICC Champions Trophy and while most of their squad looks good, there are still a couple of areas where Kohli will want more consistency.

Shikhar Dhawan’s place in the Indian team is under pressure after low scores in the first two matches and there were reports of an injury scare for the left-hander, which means Ajinkya Rahane could make the XI.

Dhawan’s opening partner KL Rahul has also not got many runs in the series and will be looking to impress on Sunday.

In the bowling department, Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled reasonably well in the death overs at Cuttack and that should mean that he keeps his place for the third ODI.

PREDICTED INDIA XI: Rahane, Rahul, Kohli (c), Yuvraj, Dhoni (wk), Jadhav, Pandya, Jadeja, Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar, Bumrah.

ENGLAND SQUAD: Eoin Morgan (c), Jason Roy, Joe Root, Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Billings, Jos Buttler (wk), Liam Dawson, Adil Rashid, Jake Ball, Chris Woakes, David Willey, Liam Plunkett.

With Alex Hales ruled out of the match, England will be forced to make a change at the top of the order.

It won’t be surprising if Sam Billings is given the responsibility of opening the innings. The 25-year-old has been unlucky to miss out on the playing XI despite good form in an early practice match.

There’s also the possibility of Mooen Ali being pushed up to open the innings, with either Billings or Jonny Bairstow slotting in the middle order.

In the bowling department, Liam Plunkett was very expensive in the previous match so expect an extra spinner in the form of Adil Rashid or Liam Dawson.

PREDICTED ENGLAND XI: Roy, Billings, Root, Morgan (c), Buttler, Stokes, Ali, Dawson, Woakes, Willey, Ball.
