  • The world's richest cricketing body has slipped up.

A bid to relay a congratulatory message from Virat Kohli and team India to its World Cup winning U-19 counterparts didn’t go according to plan for the BCCI.

The youngsters had on Sunday captured India’s fourth ICC U19 World Cup title after beating Australia by eight wickets in the final on Saturday.

However, it seems the richest governing body in world cricket has been unable to renew the domain name for its website www.bcci.tv in time.

On Sunday morning, BCCI had posted a video message on its Twitter handle with wishes from the senior side for the title winning juniors. The tweet provided a link to its website but when visitors landed on the link, they were greeted by a message stating the website was up for sale by ‘register.com’.

When last checked, the website had already received 11 bids with a highest of $326 USD.

Unable to view the video, several users tweeted that the website was not working but as of Sunday evening, there seemed to be no change with the website remaining offline.

BCCI regularly posts live scores and videos related to team India and domestic cricket on its bcci.tv website. With team India currently in South Africa battling it out in the ODI series, it makes the governing body’s ineptitude in not renewing the domain name even more of a shocker.
