  • India batsmen Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, spinner Ravi Ashwin and all-rounder Hardik Pandya have given their support to fast bowler Mohammed Shami who met with an accident on Sunday that extended his list of setbacks.

India quick Shami was accused of domestic violence, adultery and even corruption by his wife Hasin Jahan at the beginning of the month that forced the BCCI to put his central contract on hold.

After allegations of accepting money for corruption were dismissed following an investigation by the Indian cricket board, Shami was given a central contract worth 30 million rupees (Dh1.7m).

Then on Sunday, Shami got injured in a road accident while travelling from Dehradun to New Delhi. Shami sustained minor head injuries that required stitches.

With so much happening within a space of three weeks, Shami’s India team-mates gave him their support.

Rohit took to Twitter and said: “This lad has gone through a lot in recent times. Wishing him a speedy recovery.”

Ashwin hoped for a strong comeback from Shami. “So much to endure in such little time, hope you recover and come back strong. Prayers for you.”

Dhawan, Pandya, wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha and batsman Robin Uthappa were among the players who wished Shami a speedy recover.
