  • The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai hosted the 2016 World T20 semi-final.

More drama is expected during West Indies’ tour of India with a second state association expressing its inability to host an international match.

Earlier, the second ODI between India and the West Indies was moved from Indore to Visakhapatnam after a dispute over complimentary ticket allocations. It came after a dispute between the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) and the BCCI over the number of tickets made available to officials from the governing body as well as sponsors and team officials.

Now, it’s the turn of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MC) with the local body saying it is unable to host the fourth ODI on October 29 at the Wankhede Stadium in the absence of any office bearers to pay its vendors, according to a report in the Indian Express.

Earlier, the Mumbai association faced the embarrassment of being unable to pay the hotel bills for its state team during the local Vijay Hazare tournament in Bangalore after the Indian board forced to help them out. The MCA is likely to meet BCCI CEO Rahul Johri to explain their situation.

Apparently, the Bombay High Court had appointed two administrators to oversee the functioning of MCA but their term ended on September 15. As of now, CEO CS Naik is in charge but in the absence of any authorised signatory, all payments at Mumbai association have been suspended, including salaries to staff members and players’ daily allowances.

“MCA doesn’t have any signatory, so who will sign payments, who will appoint vendors? Who will conduct the entire game? In such circumstances, it will be very difficult for us to hold an international game. We will put all this case in front of BCCI let them take a call,” the report quoted an official as saying.
