Former opening batsman and commentator Aakash Chopra raised the issue on Twitter, stating that it can become a major issue.
“Lately too many fans have managed to reach the middle of the pitch….genuine concern. Please keep the players safe,” he tweeted.
Fans invaded the playing area to click selfies with India captain Virat Kohli during the middle of the Rajkot and Hyderabad Tests against the West Indies.
The IPL earlier this year saw numerous pitch invaders who wanted to click selfies with Kohli and wicketkeeper batsman MS Dhoni.
The growing regularity of such invasions raises questions about the security measures in Indian grounds and also puts the safety of the players in jeopardy as it only takes one unfortunate incident to spook the players.
