The participation of several Pakistan players in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and the inaugural T20 Global League has been thrown in doubt after the National T20 Cup was moved to November 4-19.

The PCB have already said that the national T20 competition would take precedence over the various leagues around the world. The latest PCB move is expected to affect over a dozen Pakistan players who have been contracted to play in the BPL and T20 Global League.

The BPL has been scheduled to run from November 2 to December 10 while the T20 Global League has been set for a similar window between November 3 and December 16.

Just last month the PCB had revoked the No Objection Certificates (NOC) for 13 players plying their trade in the English County and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) so that the players could all report back to the National Cricket Academy in Lahore for a camp before the visits of the ICC World XI and National T20 Cup which had been scheduled to begin on August 25.

Mohammad Amir has played in the BPL previously.

After an outcry from some of the team affected, the PCB had allowed the players to return to their original commitments after undergoing a series of fitness camps at the NCA under the supervision of head coach Mickey Arthur.

This allowed Mohammad Amir to return to Essex for their crunch tie against Somerset. PCB chief Najam Sethi had said that the T20 Cup would be rescheduled at a later date so the players were free to continue with their engagements.

With the new dates for the competition now announced, it looks likely that the contracted players will miss out on their commitments to the franchises. The likes of Fakhar Zaman, Mohammed Hafeez and Wahab Riaz were among seven Pakistan players who had been picked in the first draft of the T20 Global League.

It remains to be seen if a new compromise can be worked out by the PCB who are now engaged in the preparations for the visit of the World XI on September 11. The Faf du Plessis-led assorted side will take on the hosts in a three-match T20 series renamed the Independence Cup between September 12-15 at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore.
