  • Shahid Afridi has backed MS Dhoni.

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi put his weight behind India wicketkeeper MS Dhoni, stating that its up to the veteran to decide when he should retire and added the gloveman’s presence in the team will be crucial if the Men in Blue are to win the 2019 World Cup.

In an interaction with Times Now channel, Afridi said Dhoni has done a lot for the Indian team.

“What Dhoni has done for team India nobody else has, and no one has the right to tell him when to retire. In 2019 (World Cup), Dhoni needs to be there for India to have good chance (of winning),” the Pakistani great said.

Dhoni’s place in the Indian team has been under scrutiny for a long time, following the gradual decline in his hitting and finish power, coupled with the rise of young wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and consistent performances by another experienced gloveman – Dinesh Karthik.
