Out-of-form Pakistan batsman Mohammad Hafeez on Tuesday announced he was retiring from Test cricket following the conclusion of the ongoing third and final Test against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi.

The 38-year-old top order batsman managed just 66 runs in seven innings after scoring a century against Australia in Dubai last month following his return to red-ball cricket.

“I feel my time is up,” said Hafeez. “I am announcing my retirement and feel happy that I worked hard in my career.”

Hafeez made his Test debut against Bangladesh in Karachi in 2003. He has scored 3,644 runs with ten tons and 12 fifties.
